LAPAROSCOPIC IPOM
What is laparoscopic IPOM?
Laparoscopic IPOM refers to the intraperitoneal onlay mesh procedure that involves the direction of the bowel out of the hernia sac via small keyhole incisions under laparoscopic vision. The placement of mesh over the hernia opening makes use of absorbable tackers, thus closing the defect. The mesh is a special mesh that is covered by a special lining, preventing adhesions. However, you may form adhesions, this is variable and will be dealt with appropriately.
You will need to wear a brace for three to six months and avoid heavy lifting for three months.
